After our star-studded Baby Elephant Gin Appreciation Society popup event in March, led by Phnom Penh’s premier mixologist from the legendary cocktail bar Le Boutier, we’re back at 7pm this Thursday 11 May for an all-healing full-moon edition of our evenings of gin-loving antics.

Brewed as it is from numerous botanicals, gin has been used for its natural healing properties for hundreds of years. So as the full moon prepares to shine down on the spiritual town of Siem Reap, buzzing with mystical energy and renowned for its mesmerising temples at the Angkor Wat complex, what better opportunity could there be to roll out our full moon gin party?

Join us as we bathe under the moonlight, with wood nymphs and other pagan creatures, and try some delicious healing tinctures. The Baby Elephant Boutique Hotel team will be showcasing three tasty, original cocktails with healing properties, plus a variety of innovative gin and tonic recipes. You can beat the gin-induced hunger pangs with snacks including recipes from Jakarta’s Slam Dunk Sandwich Co., previously headed up by Baby Elephant’s very own Adam and Ilana – we’ll also have some special pagan tunes to set the scene and, if you fancy something just a tad more conventional, our standard cocktail and drinks list will also be available.

This month’s Gin Appreciation Society event takes place at 7pm on Thursday 11 May. Hotel residents are welcome to join us, as well as visitors staying elsewhere, expats and locals – but numbers for the event are strictly limited, and reservations are essential. To secure your place, please e-mail bookings@babyelephant.asia.

New to the Baby Elephant Gin Appreciation Society? Here’s the inside scoop: we’re unashamedly jumping on the bandwagon of the gin fever sweeping the region (and the world) – yet which oddly hasn’t yet made huge waves in Siem Reap – and declaring our love for botanicals. Baby Elephant’s monthly Gin Appreciation Society is a casual yet impassioned meeting of gin-lovers, allowing us to embark on a journey of discovery together.

Chile Food Fair | Baby Elephant Boutique Hotel Siem Reap

Sunday May 14

4PM Viva Chile! Food Fair

DON’T MISS OUT ON OUR AUTHENTIC CHILEAN FOOD FAIR AT BABY ELEPHANT.

Cooking classes and demonstrations – Chilean wines and cocktails – street foods and small bites – traditional sweets and more!

Baby Elephant’s intern, Melody, is a Chilean culinary arts student. She has been working alongside Head Chef Hoyha learning about Cambodian cuisine for the past 4 months – but now it’s her turn to show Chef Hoyha what Chilean food is all about! Melody and Chef Hoyha will be showing Siem Reap some of the delicious food from Melody’s far-away nation.

Come and try the street foods, small bites, sweets and drinks that are famous in Chile! We will have vegan options and food that the kids will enjoy.

This event is for the whole family, so bring the kids and enjoy the pool.

HOT TIP:
In Chile you would have to travel the entire country to have the foods we will be presenting in one place! Instead – you can just drop into Baby Elephant and sample away.

About Chilean Cuisine:

Chilean cuisine stems mainly from the combination of traditional Spanish cuisine, Chilean Indigenous Mapuche culture and local ingredients, with later important influences from other European cuisines, particularly from Germany, Italy and France. The food tradition and recipes in Chile are notable for the variety of flavours and ingredients, with the country’s diverse geography and climate hosting a wide range of agricultural produce, fruits and vegetables.

Chile is one of the world’s largest producers of wine and many Chilean recipes are enhanced and accompanied by local wines.
